“Do. Or Do not. There is no try.”
-Yoda, The Empire Strikes Back
How are all my favorite readers doing the week? Is it just me or does everyone else have Spring fever and feel like they are going absolutley crazy?
Seriously, it is only Tuesday and I am ready for Friday to get here! Let’s get right to it in 3..2..1.. GO!
Confession #1: It has been a great week at CrossFit. I can hardly believe it, but the CrossFit Open starts THIS WEEK. Holy Mother Mary Full Of Grace?!?! I cannot believe I have already been training for 5 weeks with my Coach Gilbert at CrossFit in Kailua. It went by so fast.
Busting My Ass So I Can One Day Kick Ass
Let’s get this straight. I am not ready for the Open, but I am going to do the damn thing anyways. So what if I cannot Rx A-N-Y-T-H-I-N-G. At least, I am giving it my very best, challenging myself, receiving personal training and having a great time.
Don’t Forget To Wipe Your Balls
Seriously, I almost cried, when I realized I went from an 8lb. medicine wall ball to a 20lb. medicine wall ball within a few minutes. Let’s not forget getting in several 12lb and 14lb bad boys in there too. Coach Gil pulled a CrossFit Jedi mind trick on me.
Remember Luke Skywalker and Yoda in the swamps, training to become a JEDI? Well, that is me with Coach Gil every Saturday morning.
Over the course of my training, I have discovered that it is mind over matter. Fear, doubt and frustration is all in your head.
Like Yoda said, “Do. Or do not. There is no try.” So I took that big ass medicine and threw it up to the yellow line. It felt amazing and I could tell my coach was so proud of me.
Confession #2: I am incredibly shy when I enter my CrossFit box. For the longest time, I felt like Chunk from the Goonies, working out and wanted to draw as little attention to me. When I first started CrossFitting, I was in terrible shape, couldn’t do a burpee and felt out of place.
Let me tell you, female CrossFitters are much more intimidating than their male counterparts. Watching them lift, kip and dominate the workouts, inspired me to keep going.
Jiggly Bits
Usually, I will say hello to familiar faces, but but I don’t go out of my way to meet people. I just get right into my WOD, recover from my near death experience, write my results, put on my ear buds and walk out quietly.
Now that I am going more often, I have had the opportunity to meet some really cool people, with absolutely amazing CrossFit transformation stories.
Recently, I connected with one of the female box members on Facebook and FINALLY met each other at the CrossFit Prom, earlier this month. We immediately hit it off! I was in awe of her journey, determination and life transformation.
CrossFit Sisterhood
I loved listening to Trisha, share how CrossFit and Paleo changed her life! Her story is incredible and I walked away inspired to be a better CrossFitter!
I know I can do it too! I cannot wait to see where the next year will take me. Hopefully, my first muscle up will be in my future.
Muscle Ups
Soon after meeting, we decided to meet up to have dinner. It was really great to make a new friend! Not only did we share our passion for CrossFit, but it was so nice to find a new girlfriend.
Truth be told, most of my friends have moved away, long ago with the military. For the longest time, it felt as if I was the last person left on the island.
Life gets lonely at times, when all your loved ones, live thousands of miles away. It is nice to know, that I have my own family at CrossFit Oahu.
The Women Of CrossFit Kailua
Had I not met Trisha, I would have not known about a really fun upcoming event for the women at CFK. I am super duper excited for my first Ladies Night – Mobility WOD this Friday night!! It will be great to meet some of the other women at my box.
For all your lady friends, looking to meet new people, during or after divorce, what better place than CrossFit!
Confession #3: I bought new shoes today! So frustrated that I couldn’t find my dream Reebok CrossFit Nanos 3.0, in my color or sizes. BOOOOO! However, after talking to a few other CrossFitters, I was led in the direction of INOV. Fortunately, my favorite running store, carried a few in my size.
I LOVE them so far. Punky Brewster bright, light weight and functional. Mamas got a brand new pair of shoes.
Fits Like Cinderella’s Glass Slipper
Confession #4: I am becoming a CrossFit T-shirt whore. Shoots. Any funny tshirt would make me happy. My ratio to regular clothes and workout clothes is shifting to the latter.
I could spend hours, surfing the internet, for my next find. If I could go to work in my workout clothes, I probably would. Actually, I have and will tomorrow, since I am sitting at a training all day.
Like My New Shirt?
Here is just a select few tshirts I am absolutely LUSTING over. Ahem. I wear a Small or Medium. LOL. Hint. Hint.
Confession #5: I TOTALLY bombed the Paleo Challenge. What is it with structured challenges, that I just cannot get my act together. When I first began CrossFit, I ate Paleo/Clean Eating, on my own for 6 months straight and lost 20. Go figure!?
I will tell you what happened. Taco mother trucking Bell, decided after taking my Chili Cheese Burrito away from me many years, to bring it back when I started the Paleo Challenge? What are the odds of that? How could I resist my favorite guilty pleasure of all time.
I couldn’t believe my eyes. I thought I was seeing a mirage. Cicily Kryptonite I tell you. Oh. Yeah. How could I pass this up. It was like being reunited with your long lost love. Where have you been the last 10 years?
Would You Like To Try Our Chili Cheese Burrito?
I use to eat these at lunch in high school EVERY.SINGLE.DAY. Guess what. Old habits die hard. Fudge. $%$%^!? Oh, well. Every day is a new day to start over.
It’s That Good Ya’ll
Confession #6: I have learned to never get involve with a CrossFitter at my box. Mr. CrossFit Crush crushed my hopes on meeting a nice CrossFit guy.
No More CrossFit Boys
Maybe find someone who supports my love of CrossFit, but he does he own exercise thing. You never know right?
I am starting to realize, they can be just as flaky as all the other men I have come across, in my search for love.
Why can’t I just find a sexy man with muscles who likes to lift too and doesn’t have commitment issues? C’mon Jesus, help a girl out. Just sending this wish out into the universe.
Muscles & Tattoos …
CrossFit Bali
Guess Who Is Taking The 2 Hour Cab Ride To CrossFit Bali in exactly three weeks? Guess The real reason why?
Everytime, I am asked out on a date, the first thought that comes to mind, is if he is worth me missing CrossFit.
Soooooooo faaaaaaaarrrrrr…..nope…. I guess it will be weights over dates for the time being.
What’s your favorite guilty pleasure food?
Are you into tattoos?
Love,
Sweet Cicily
