As I hunch over my laptop in faded black sweats, last year’s UGGS, and cockeyed reading glasses I haven’t had time to get repaired, I am bemused to announce that I have received the Stylish Blogger Award from my inspirational bloggeague TwoKidsandaFish. Considering that I launched Perils of Divorced Pauline not quite three weeks ago, and that I didn’t even know there was such a thing as a Stylish Blogger Award, and that I am not looking even remotely stylish at the moment, this is a big surprise and a lovely honor.
A lovely honor that, by the way, carries with it some Blog Queen duties:

1. My favorite Merlot is Mad Housewife. My husband brought it home for me one day. Guess why?
2. Sometimes when I’m drinking Mad Housewife, I cleanse my palate with some Trader Joe’s peanut butter cups.
3. My hair is unruly and requires four different products to calm down.
4. I can do handstands, but only against the wall.
5. I have a pathological fear of earthworms, so I can’t garden. I can, however, buy potted plants.
6. My favorite book is To Kill a Mockingbird.
7. Sunday heaven is coffee and the New York Times crossword puzzle.
But enough about me! It’s time to pass on my crown to the following five “writerly” bloggesses — chosen because they transport me with their elegant, thoughtful, gorgeous prose about difficult subjects: divorce, death, special needs children.
– A Non-Custodial Mother. Sophia Van Buren (not her real name) writes with exquisite grace about her unconventional transition from full-time to non-custodial motherhood. To read her is to love her.
– Irretrievably Broken. This divorced mom reflects on the disorientation that often follows the end of a marriage. Her honesty about her ambivalence is refreshing and poignant. She can also be found on Babble.com writing under the handle Divorced with Kids.
– todayfortalya.blogspot.com. Adina Gianelli’s blogs about the death of her infant daughter are moving, brutal, and compulsively readable.
– quinnmama. One of my fellow OpenSalon bloggers who documents her son’s stint in the NICU and subsequent autism diagnosis. She writes like a woman on fire.
– Touching the Trees. Jennifer McBride muses wisely on women’s transitions and personal growth.

So well deserved! I had an emotional connection to your blog from Day One. I’m now faithfully following these blogs as well. Just discovered quinnmama recently and love her writing! BTW: “To Kill a Mockingbird” is the reason I fell in love with reading and the reason I read with my kids.
