BadBadWebbis blogs about many things, among them tales of her happy remarriage to Mr. Webbis. The Webbis’s have four children and two difficult exes between them. You can read more about their life at www.badbadwebbis.wordpress.com. In this installment of Blogger Space, a series showcasing the places in which bloggers chose to write, BadBadWebbis describes the site of much romance, consolation, study, and blogging–her sofa.
I blog most frequently while sitting in the corner of the sofa–it’s where I’ve written almost every essay for my grad school coursework, it’s where I write papers I give at conferences (one I wrote 13 hours before I got on the plane!), and it’s where I was sitting on January 29th, 2010, when I started my blog.
It’s where my husband and I had our first kiss. It’s where I sat with my eldest daughter when she had her heart bruised last spring when her boyfriend broke up with her, and it’s where I sleep sometimes when I miss my husband too much to sleep in our bed (he lives in Louisiana Monday through Thursday; he teaches at a college there while I am finishing my PhD).
The children know it’s my corner and I think the sofa knows me too. The glass on the table has mineral water in it, but it could also be a coffee mug, a beer stein, or a glass of wine.
My sofa faces the fireplace and the vase of flowers on the mantelpiece. There are bookshelves on one side of the fireplace and on the wall to my left. There is an enormous window on the wall to my right, and I have the security of the wall behind my sofa. It’s a lovely place to write.
