This week kicks off the Summer of Me.
My goal is to allow life to happen without attempting to control it. I’m taking the time to dig deep inside and rediscover who I am, what I like, and where I want to go in the future. I’ve lost myself in Husband #2’s business and I don’t know what I am, what I want, now that he’s gone.
Don’t be pushed by your problems. Be led by your dreams.
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
How many of us can voice our dreams? How many know what our dreams really are? We may say that we want a million dollars. In reality, we want to have the ability to spend a million dollars.
I don’t need a million dollars to make me happy. Don’t get me wrong, I still buy a lottery ticket anytime the jackpot gets into the one hundred millions… I know I won’t win, but someone has to eventually. Why not spend the $2 and dream a little?
In the absence of that staggering amount of cash, my dreams are simpler. Things like a touch, a glance, a song, a poem are the sources of happiness, joy, and inspiration. My dream for today revolves around a pepper plant. And the crunch of diced peppers in pasta salad. Tomorrow’s dream may be bigger or different or more ambitious but for today I’ll just enjoy dreaming about a future garden harvest.
