“Burpees really don’t like you either”
Alrighty, due to the fact, I am super duper tired after a long day of teaching and an evening at CrossFit, tonight’s “confessions” will be to the point and full of fun CrossFit memes, fill in the space.
CrossFit confession #1 … After getting home from work today, I passed out on the bed for an hour. Although, I was planning to go to the “box” tonight, I woke up with only 20 minutes to spare, before having to leave to make it on time. I was on the brink of talking myself out of going tonight, making mental negotiations with myself to make it up on another day.
However, I forced myself to look at my “dream board” filled with CrossFit goals and images, to remind myself of where I want to be a year from now. After that, I dragged my lazy ass out of my work clothes and threw on old shoes, shorts and a tank top.
I either want it or I don’t. It is that simple. If I keep putting off going to CrossFit, there is no way I will reach my pull up goal or get better at lifting. So I sucked it up buttercup style and ran out the door.
Honestly, the hardest part is getting out the door. When you want to put off your workout, my advice is throw on your running shoes and just go. No one ever regrets working out.
Confession #2: I wanted to turn around, when I saw the 5PM class doing BURPEES!
Confession #3: I was bummed “Mr. CrossFit” was not there tonight. Not that I would ever speak to him, but he is a nice distraction, as I am lifting heavy weights over my head.
Confession #4: I am in LOVE with lifting weights. While I may not be able to lift heavy, I was able to PR my Power Clean, Push Press and Thruster. I love that my coach was encouraging me to add more weights onto my bar. At points, I was thinking, there ain’t no way in hell I can lift this weight, low and behold I was able to do it.
I do need a lot of practice with my form! I am really excited to learn and an eager student. I like that my teacher actually breaks down the moves for me. Having a good coach and a great coach, makes all the difference in the world with your performance.
Tonight, I realized I was a lot stronger than I think.
Confession #5: Power Cleans and Boobs DON’T mix well! No matter what, my “rack” is getting in the way of me lifting the bar. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind being blessed in the bossom, but I would love it if boobs were interchangeable when you wanted to work out. Like Mr. Potato Head parts. It is a pain having to double up on bras just to go for a run or go to CrossFit.
Everytime I was trying to do a power clean tonight, I had to move further out of the way, so my BOOBS, would not hit the bar! OUCH! Any jumping… forget it. I guess I could have worse problems. I was convinced after almost a year of CrossFit, I would go down in size, like so many women in CF have experienced. Definitely NOT me. BLERG.
Confession #6: After tonight’s grueling WOD, I went to Whole Foods to buy beer and dark chocolate with bacon! Definitely NOT Paleo, definitely worth the workout though!
