Aloha, my lovely and wonderful readers! It feels like ages since I last blogged. Last time I wrote, I had just arrived in Hakone, Japan, just after touching down in Tokyo. Despite my intentions to write throughout my travels, I had a few hiccups along the way, including a lost wallet on the Japanese train line, getting the worst cold ever, etc.
In a way, it was heaven sent, because it gave me the opportunity to be fully present in my adventures. Now that I back home in the Hawaiian islands, I have so many amazing stories I cannot wait to share with you all.
Hands down, this was the most adventurous trip I have ever taken. I have learned a great deal about the world, it’s inhabitants and who I am as a person.
Forgive me if my blog posts are not in order, but I am not sure where to really start, as I have experienced so much in the two weeks that I was off the grid.
Might I mention, I LOVE being off the grid. No television, minimal Facebook time, school out of session, mommy duties shifted to daddy for 12 days and not a care in the world. Just me, my passport, backpack and a course set for unexpected adventures.
I feel really blessed to be able to travel across the globe, meet many new faces, have many firsts and do a little self reflection.
Since, I totally forgot I have a last minute early meeting tomorrow and need to draft an IEP (shit, shit, shit, shit), I have to keep tonight’s blog post short.
So, here is the story of when I drank the world’s rarest and most expensive coffee in the whole entire world. Oh, did I mention it is known for the fact, that the coffee beans that are used, have been consumed and defacated by an Indonesian Luwak cat (Asian Palm Civet).
Basically, I paid $5 for a small sip of POOP coffee and it tasted AMAZEBALLS!
Initially, I was hesitant on drinking this famous unique coffee, but when the heck would I ever be back in Indonesia?! Plus, what a great ice breaker for parties! Even my little boy was rolling on the floor, when I told him mommy drank “poop” coffee.
What was even cooler, I got to see the whole process at a local coffee plant farm. I even saw a Luwak “create” coffee in front of me.
It got even better when I entered the mountain top view, of the rice terrains, where our coffee was being served! Holy Mother Mary full of grace..it was so GORGEOUS!!! I couldn’t believe I was in wonderful Bali, sipping the rarest of coffees, overlooking one of the most beautiful landscapes I have ever seen.
Picture Swiss Family Robinson opening up a Starbucks! Honestly, it was the best surprise of the day, as it was a unexpected stop after my Elephant Safari tour.
If you are ever in Bali, make sure you go check out the coffee farms, overlooking the rice fields and order a cup of Luwak coffee. Not only is it a once in a lifetime experience, but one of the smoothest roast coffees you will have taste.
Hope you enjoy my photographs taken on my Luwak coffee adventures in Bali, Indonesia! Keep your eyes peeled for more adventures in Asia, as Sweet Cicily takes on the world in my Eat Pray Love journey!
