Everyone who has experienced divorce has a story to tell. Often times it’s about the high legal fees or how their ex was less than truthful or the games their ex tried to play during the legal process. The focus is on the negatives. While divorce is always difficult, most people eventually see positives. So the next time someone mentions to you that they’ve been divorced, ask them to share what the experience taught them about themselves, what they understand about their marriage in hindsight, what new skills they’ve learned or how their marriage would have been different if they had a do-over knowing what they know now. You may be surprised and encouraged.
