Divorce comes with a fair amount of anger. And, in the midst of the madness, anger feels good. It numbs the pain. It soothes us with a sense of purpose and power. In our confusion and frustration, we succumb to its seductions, clench our fists and our jaws, and hold on tight.
Unfortunately, anger isn’t a very warm or giving companion. In its embrace, we become cold and hardened, losing our compassion, sensitivity and other qualities that make us beautifully human. In short, we become prisoners of rage.
But isn’t anger a natural emotion? Yes. Shouldn’t it be accepted, observed and honored? Yes.
