Afraid “you’ve lost that lovin’ feelin’” after divorce?
Vikki Ziegler, star of Bravo TV’s hit show, Untying the Knot, has a brand new dating app about to hit iOS that is designed to help users remember a time when dating was fun and full of possibility.
DivorceDating is a free, downloadable app and multi-media platform created with the needs and interests of divorced women in mind, and is sure to be a welcome addition to the dating portfolio of anyone dating after divorce.
With its premium interface, clean graphics, and easy navigation, DivorceDating combines a positive, mature, and supportive approach to dating after divorce with the ease and efficiency of other, more generic dating apps.
I recently attended DivorceDating’s Pre-Launch Party at The Chester in Manhattan’s trendy Meatpacking District where I had the opportunity to speak with Ziegler about her latest innovation.
“It has always been a dream of mine to create a place for divorcées or singles who wouldn’t mind dating someone who has been divorced.”
With approximately half of all U.S. marriages ending in divorce, there are presently no other online dating apps designed specifically to help divorced people get back out into the dating world again.
“For my clients,” Ziegler elaborates, “divorce is a rebirth of sorts. It’s a time for renewal, growth, and opportunity to find true love. There is a unique commonality that exists with divorcées and we want this community to bond together and share their experiences and find friendship, love or a fun night out.”
DivorceDating is the first dating app devoted to the unique needs and interests of divorced people, and is the first to approach dating from a female perspective.
“This app has a classy feel,” says Ziegler. “It asks fun, short questions about your life and has a wingman feature that allows your friends and family to be a second pair of eyes and ears, ensuring you are making a sound choice when getting back in the dating pool.”
At the party, I got to try DivorceDating on for size and answer some of the multiple choice profile questions the dating app will use to help facilitate matches.
Questions ranged from the more serious (“Why did you divorce?” and “What has divorce taught you?”) to the lighthearted (“What movie best describes your divorce?” and “Would you run naked in a rainstorm?”). Judging by the wide range of responses from party-goers, it is easy to see how the app will pair like-minded individuals together.
Of the app’s upcoming release, Ziegler says she is most excited about “connecting people that have been affected by divorce and releasing the stigma that divorce holds.”
Vikki Ziegler is a nationally known celebrity divorce lawyer, law school professor, and published author who is intimately familiar with divorce. Her parents divorced when she was a child, and Ziegler’s own marriage ended in divorce before she found love again.
“If anyone knows about divorce and its effects, it’s me,” says Ziegler.
DivorceDating will be fully available in iOS version in the New York area beginning late summer, with additional markets and operating systems to be added during the coming months.
