There are some things that go together like peas and carrots.
Forrest and Gump.
Hall and Oates.
Cagney and Lacey.
Yin and Yang.
On the other hand, there are some things that do not fit together.
Kim Kardashian and clothes.
McDonalds and health nuts.
Family night at the movies and affordable.
REAL men and cheating.
That’s right, REAL men do not cheat. I know, I know, the haters would suggest that one needs nothing more than a Pe and a Nis to be considered a REAL man, but I disagree. Here’s why.
1. REAL men are strong.
When a man decides to cheat, he has decided that it is better to have a physical or emotional relationship with someone other than his significant other without having the courage to confront whatever reasons drove him down this path. It takes courage to communicate concerns one has with their significant other. It takes courage to address gaps without placing blame. REAL men do this. Cowardly men do not.
Cal has had some challenges with Karen. From his perspective, they have grown apart and he attributes a lot of this to Karen being tired and stressed all of the time. But, Cal chooses to talk to Karen about his concerns. Their discussions have been introspective and they have both pledged to work on their marriage. Cal could have done what some FAKE men would choose to do in this case-step out on Karen. But he did not. Cal is strong.
2. REAL men are honorable.
An honorable man is someone who is kind, has both dignity and grace, makes an honest living, is compassionate, responsible for his own actions, trustworthy and keeps his promises. This definition comes from the ‘A Celebration of Women’ website (http://acelebrationofwomen.org/2012/10/honor-what-does-it-mean-to-be-honorable/) and I could not agree more. I pay particular focus to the part about an honorable man keeping his promises. When two commit to each other, there are promises abound.
The promise to be with each other through sickness and health.
The promise to love and cherish.
And yes, the promise to be faithful.
A cheating man is not a faithful man. An unfaithful man did not keep this promise. A man that does not keep is promise is not honorable. A dishonorable man is not a REAL man.
Paul is not a REAL man. He has cheated on Alice three times and each time he recommits to her. Not only has he been unfaithful but when asked to explain his indiscretions, he blames them on Alice working late. In short, Paul does not take responsibility for his own actions. This makes him a triple loser and a candidate for the FAKE man Hall of Fame.
3. REAL men have integrity.
Integrity is, by definition, the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles; moral uprightness. Can anyone suggest with a straight face, that cheaters are people of integrity? I think not. To suggest otherwise would be to suggest that cheating is not a violation of basic morals and principles.
In the world of love and commitment, REAL men are honest with their significant other. They do not balk on what they know to be right because their moral compass is not crooked.
Allen is a good looking man that works in the sales field. He comes across a lot of flirtatious women, some of whom have propositioned him. Allen, however, does not waiver on his love for Jennifer. He communicates with her about the environment that he works in and the propositions, all while ensuring her through his actions and words that she is all he wants and needs. Allen is a man of integrity. Allen is a REAL man.
Allen does not cheat. REAL men do not cheat.
