John F. Schaefer has been practicing matrimonial law for more than 40 years and founded The Law Firm of John F. Schaefer in 1996 dedicated to the practice of matrimonial and family law with offices in Birmingham, Grosse Pointe and Harbor Springs, Michigan. I am recognized internationally as a family law expert and specialize in complex and high profile divorce cases.The Michigan State University College of Law library is named after me, where I have served as trustee emeritus and adjunct law professor for more than 30 years. I serve, and have served, on numerous boards and associations including the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, where I was past president of its Michigan chapter, and I was also past president of the Oakland County Bar Association.
