Larry Sarezky, Family Law Attorney
Larry Sarezky is a family law attorney in Fairfield County, CT. He is a past Chair of the Connecticut Bar Association’s Family Law Section and former member of the CBA’s prestigious Liaison with the State Courts Committee, a think tank of leading members of the Connecticut bar and judiciary.
During a 35-year legal career, Larry’s family law clients have ranged from indigents to Fortune 500 CEOs, Baseball Hall of Famers and Oscar, Grammy and Emmy Award winners. His legal skills have been hailed by judges as well as clients (“a master negotiator”—Frank T. Cary, former IBM C.E.O).
Larry is widely known for his advocacy for children of divorce. He wrote and directed the nationally acclaimed and Telly Award winning Talk to Strangers, a short film portraying the impact of child-related litigation on children. Larry also authored the film’s companion guide, The Talk to Strangers Pocket Guide for Parents containing conflict-avoidance and consensus building strategies to avoid high-conflict divorce.
In January 2015, Larry joined international divorce experts participating in International Child-Centered Divorce Month, a program devoted to educating parents about the effects of divorce on children. Larry has been asked to present Talk to Strangers as a panelist at the January 2016 American Psychoanalytic Association meetings in New York City.
Larry has lectured widely to bar associations and other groups on family law topics and recently appeared on the Internet TV program, The Divorce View. His articles on family law have appeared in The Huffington Post, The Connecticut Bar Association’s The Connecticut Lawyer and on numerous online venues. In 2003, CT Supreme Court Justice Peter T. Zarella distributed a Hartford Courant Op Ed piece written by Larry to Connecticut’s Superior Court judges to help adopt a rule making divorcing parties’ financial affidavits confidential.
Larry’s upcoming new book, The Functional Divorce Book fosters his concept of a “functional divorce” that maximizes divorce results while minimizing legal fees. Slated for publication in December 2015, Divorce, Plain & Simple offers unique insights and practical advice simply explained by a veteran divorce lawyer. Most recently, Larry recorded the first 2 discs of an audio primer for witnesses in divorce cases entitled Scared Witless to Star Witness.
