If you’ve kept up with the blog, you know that I recently started a new job. New jobs mean paperwork…tax forms, employment contracts, and …. emergency contact designations.
It hit me hard as I was filling out my emergency contact form. Who should I use? Husband #2 and I are still married. Does that count? Did he list me as his emergency contact when he filled out his new employee paperwork?
Maybe I should list Son #1. He’s an adult now and the most reliable man in my life. But is it too much of a responsibility? Would he be able to handle a medical emergency call? Should I let him be a kid for just a bit longer?
And then I have the outliers to consider. My friend, who’s local and who could help Son #1 handle delicate situations. My sister, who’s not so local but is a direct family member. Would either of these two make a better emergency contact than my first two choices?
For the time being, I think Husband #2 will stay at the top of the list while I marinate on this choice a bit more. In the meanwhile, I’ll scrutinize my choices and see who would be the best to handle my health in case of emergency.
