Jenny Heitz, who spotlights uber-cool gift ideas in her smart blog Find a Toad, and opines wryly on post-modern motherhood in Mamapedia, Beyond the Brochure, and elsewhere, shares her Blogger Space below.
I’m lucky enough to have an office of sorts, the downstairs bedroom that’s been turned into a joint office/kid’s art space. Mostly I keep my stuff confined to the huge desk, which is really too high for me. Between that and my unorthodox vintage chair (Saarinen, bought on eBay years ago, share it with the dog, so it’s covered with hair and kind of stinks), I’ve ended up with a tweaked shoulder and over-tight left trapezius.
Still, I really love the space. It has large windows with green views. I’ve loaded its walls with art I love. And it’s scattered with items I’ve written about in my gift blog, Find a Toad, like the Labbit grinning next to my laptop. I was tempted to clean it up for this shot and then realized that was royally dishonest. Yes, it’s a mess and I can usually locate anything in it in no time. All in all, it’s been a very creative space for me, but it drives everyone else in the house crazy to look at it. Thank God the dog’s not judgmental.
