Growing up, I went to church every Sunday. Grudgingly. Then I hit 15 and I dug in my heels: no more church. I wasn’t a believer. My mother wrung her hands and, I’m sure, prayed for me to find my way back.
Now, so many years later, I’m still not a believer, although I’d really like to be. I think about all those Sundays I spent shifting my butt around, trying to get comfortable on the pew, staring up at the stained glass windows, the minister’s sermonizing just a drone. Whatever the subject, the takeaway was always the same: be thankful.
I think of that message still, on these Sundays that I would like to believe in something. So in keeping with the “be thankfulness” that is in my Sunday ether, I’m starting a Sunday series called What I’m Thankful For.
Maybe it’ll turn me into a believer. Or maybe it will just make me more thankful.
Today, what I’m thankful for are my blue toenails.
What are you thankful for today?

My sparkly pink glitter toenails DO make me happy, but today I am thankful for the opportunity to write songs. And many commissions coming in.

Commissions! Yay!

That ibuprofen is over the counter. I remember when Tylenol or aspirin were the only options for headaches.
And for cooler weather….finally.

The four local friends I have that are willing to read the first five chapters of my book, give feedback, and hold me to my promise of delivering a new chapter every two weeks. So in essence: nagging friends who demand free drinks if I don’t deliver. Gotta love ‘em!

The space to find myself. I’m in career turmoil and my husand is giving me the space I need to figure it out!

I’m always thankful for my two year old twins, but today I’m especially thankful that it’s nap time!
