I’m trying to get ready for Christmas in the nest and thankful for all the good elves I have in my life that help me.
Of course some are naughty pigs but they have mostly good heart sand try to do the right thing. We need Santa’s meter around here.
Like for Stanley
This place was a dump when I came in but the kids were happy (but dirty) and he had done some shopping for Christmas. I am grateful for him even though his curly tail is ever evident. Because he is a techie I would use the finger print scanner from Arthur Christmas (that thing was awesome.)
Stanley
And, I have no idea what I would do without Mom.
Mom
She came over to keep kids while I saw patients the last few days.
She saves my ass on a regular basis.
And then there is Al.
He is 100% Precious
Plus he must be scanned with the
I’m still walking around all
I am aware that there is a whole lot of naughty going on in the world around us but I don’t want to rant and rave this morning.
For the holidays, Stanley and I have a deal in our paperwork that we spend Christmas Day with the kids together. So I have the children on Christmas Eve for the day with my family (as my family’s tradition is to celebrate on Christmas Eve). Then Stanley is coming back to the nest late on Christmas Eve and spending the night so we can all wake up and do Santa. Then we will cook our traditional Standing Rib Roast and spend the day with the kids.
I am happy to be able to get along with him well enough to make this work.
I worry that a woman will come along that won’t like it (although she is welcome to attend!) but then remember that Stanley is so concrete in the head that if it says it on the paper, we still may be doing it in 30 years.
Oh! The Boy did meet the girlfriend.
I waited 2 WHOLE DAYS to ask just so as to not put pressure on him and I was very careful not to infringe on his rights to privacy about it.
Me: “So, how was meeting Sarah?”
Boy: “Fine.”
Me: “Was she nice?”
Boy: “I guess. She was fine.”
Me: “Good, we want Daddy to be happy.”
What did I tell you?
I will have to wait until a girl child meets her to get any dirt.
Then Archie took The Boy to a movie in the afternoon on Thursday.
(Archie is also an elf but about 65% nice)
He tells me he questioned The Boy about The Woman in the car. Archie wasn’t subtle AT ALL. Archie said, “I asked him a bunch of questions, like if she was pretty, got a “she’s fine” response. I asked if they talked a a lot, and he said, “she’s was nice,” I got NOTHIN. All I know is they saw The Hobbit but she might be a Hobbit for all he was giving up.”
Gee, thanks Dad. I was trying so hard not to put pressure on him.
It doesn’t matter, I just want Stanley to be happy and for whomever
he chooses to be good to my children. If those things happen she is welcome to
yearly Standing Rib Roast and I will buy her a present in a big box with a big red bow.
Kisses.

I adore you. 🙂 I am feeling this way as well this year: Bryan is going to spend the night in the gues room so that Katherine has both her parents on Christmas morning, and I am a-okay with that. Such an incredible blessing to give this to our children! Merry Christmas to you – I’m so glad to have you on my journey.
