Big, fat and wide!
June 13, 2015!!!
I’m making progress on this wedding planning and have been Pinteresting my ass off. I would have loved Pinterest when I was planning my first wedding but we only barely had internet back then. Now you can spend years reading blogs and looking at wedding ideas. You can find anything you want, unless you are a 50 year old, chubby woman getting married for the second time. I found divorce blogs when I needed them so what about old- fat -women- getting- remarried blogs? I may have to start one myself.
So far, the groomzilla and I have our venue. We are getting married at a soul music museum here in town. There is a reconstructed small church within the museum where we will have the quick ceremony. It is tiny and mostly for display only so guests will have to gather around and stand. It will be fast because we have agreed to keep the sentiment to a minimum since we will have 6 kids there possibly getting their feelings hurt if we talk about soul mates and one true loves etc too much.
Ceremony will be here.
Soul Train dance floor.
Food and drinks will be all around if we can afford any.
We are blowing a good portion of our meager budget on our venue so that it will be fun and the mood light. Therefore, I have googled the hell out of the term, “used wedding stuff’ and so far I’m pretty proud. I got my dress off a preowned wedding dress site. It was worn 4 hours (the seller said) and I took a huge chance but I got it and it is perfect.
$600 at David’s Bridal
I paid $236 which included shipping from Canada. I am changing to a goldish belt.
(btw, my dress the first time was a Lazaro $$$, just for reference)
Shoes
Low heeled and comfortable with the pop of color I wanted.
$56 with the Cyber Monday sale. Whoop!
But I saw these at Macy’s and almost fell over and died. They are so pretty.
No where near as comfy or cheap but so pretty on my foot. Didn’t buy them. Yet.
I’m thinking coral and hot pink flowers, I want them to pop. I had white roses the first time, but it’s not the first time. The little girls and Al’s daughter are going to be my bridesmaids and will wear a turquoise, teal, emerald color because I have been told that the mint I had chosen won’t photograph well in the museum.
Color inspiration because I love this photo. She has on a tea length dress.
I’m thinking if we have 65 close friends and family (Al’s family is huge and say they are all coming), we need 8 tables of 8. So, I bought 8 ivory 120 inch round tablecloths on Cyber Monday sale for 6.39 a piece. They are $14.50 a piece at the rental place, so booyah. I’ve been making homemade mercury glass out of florist vases (free when they came to my home) and will add color to the tables with flowers, votives etc. I really really want a sequin tablecloth for the cake but may have to turn tricks after carpool to afford one.
But look!!
I mean really. That is a must. Plus, I’m 50. I deserve it.
We are thinking to hire a DJ and we have to have some soul of course with our venue but also because of our history, we have to have a good dose of 80’s music.
I mean, can we really do this without some Cars, Go-Go’s and Human League?
We think not.
I am very fortunate to have a friend that is going to do the photography and some other little things.
So, that is where we are so far. Anybody got any cheap ideas??

A June bride!! And, you are doing it all yourself? Everything looks beautiful. Love the shoes and dress. Can’t wait to see the photos after the ceremony/party. No cheap ideas for you but am impressed with what you’ve done so far.
