Wife Swap

Wife Swap Spring Break is over!

And it was weird.

We got tipsy on free happy hour drinks at the hotel and told each other secrets.

 Then we promised eternal ‘mums the wordsies’.

We went to the Arch (or as Merlot refers to it, the Gateway Awch)  with MFH (MyFriend’sHusband) because his son decided to skip it.  The five of us had our picture made with our beautiful family then went up all together in our little pod.  We did other assorted tourist stuff and let the kids swim in the pool.  We drove back into town last night because I had to work today.  It was short and sweet.  Actually 3 nights in a hotel with your friend’s husband doesn’t seem that short but whatever.

Al is in agreement that this is stupid and we have vowed not to spend these breaks apart anymore.  I’m done with trying to make sure everyone else is happy.  It doesn’t appear to me that other people worry about my feelings.  In addition, how are he and I going to be able to determine if we are compatible, in this long distance relationship, if we spend precious vacation days apart and only spend a few days together when absolutely no one else may be inconvenienced?

I’m done.

I’m going to run future decisions about time and this relationship through my

done-o-meter.

I can say all of this big talk because I have absolute surety that Al loves me and realizes the dumbness of this crapola too.  He sent me an email after my blog the other day:

Hey just read the post. I completely agree with what you had to say. It’s stupid to be doing SB this way and we have been far too considerate of what we perceive to be other peoples feelings. Until I read it the way you wrote it the absolute absurdity of this week hadn’t even occurred to me.  I’m a little mad at myself bc really it should have been obvious.

I’m sorry it ended up like this.  It damn well isn’t going down like this again. Promise. Bc the bottom line is I do want to be with you. And I want all these kids to get to know each other. And once the ice is broken the whole thing gets much simpler. And it just becomes the new normal for all of us.

Plus he puts up with finding out what I think about things on a public forumand doesn’t freak when I cut and paste his words for all to see.

 He is worth mounds and mounds of stupid.

Regarding MFH, I think I have him convinced to take her away for a whole week

just for couple time.  Possibly 2 weeks if he goes for Italy.
