We single mothers teach our children to be kind, considerate, non-judgmental and humble. If Trump is elected President, he will be a role model to our children, one who will undo all we’ve worked hard to teach them.
I often hear from single moms who went through marriage and the divorce process with a narcissist. I don’t know about you other moms who divorced a narcissist but, over the last several months Donald Trump has triggered bad memories and fear in me constantly, causing me emotional distress.
I listen to the way Trump argues his position on any issue and I’m taken back to the 7-year divorce battle I went through with my ex. Just like Trump my ex never backed off, up or gave in. He went full-throttle and was unable to apply the brakes when he felt slighted by me or one of our children.
I see the same behaviors in Donald Trump. For example, with the recent release of the tape and his talk of “grabbing” women he has gone into full-throttle attack on anyone who questions his sincerity when he says, “no one respects women more than I do.” Especially the women who’ve come forward with their stories of Trump’s inappropriate behavior toward them.
Let’s face it, Trump has rarely had kind things to say about women but, over the last several days he has ramped up and truly shown his disregard for women when addressing the women who’ve accused him of sexual assault.
What has Trump Said About His Accusers?
“Believe me, she would not be my first choice, that I can tell you,” he said of one of the women during a rally in Greensboro, North Carolina.
At the rally, Trump called People magazine reporter Natasha Stoynoff, who claims he forcibly kissed her in 2005 while she was writing an article about him, a liar, and implied for the second time that she was not attractive enough for him to try to kiss.
Of another woman, he said, “When you looked at that horrible woman last night, you said, ‘I don’t think so.’”
Do you notice, his defense for not sexually assaulting these women is because they are not attractive enough? Who, other than a narcissist would use that as a defense to being accused of sexual assault. Trump is more concerned about people thinking he assaulted unattractive women than he is sanely defending himself against accusations of assault.
His remarks about these women prove that he just does not get it. He doesn’t understand the importance to his own reputation because like all narcissists he doesn’t believe anything he does could tarnish his reputation. And, for his followers, this has turned out to be true.
What Else Has Trump Said About Women?
The man who respects women more than anyone else has a long history of disrespecting women. Over the years he has belittled, demeaned and trash talked more women than I can count on both hands and feet.
15 Insults Trump Has Hurled at Women:
1. In a May 1991 Esquire magazine profile, Trump had this to say about his recent bad press: “You know, it really doesn’t matter what they write as long as you’ve got a young and beautiful piece of ass. But she’s got to be young and beautiful.”
2. When talking to CNN’s Don Lemon, he said this about Megyn Kelly: “You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever.”
3. He insulted Brande Roderick, a contestant on The Apprentice.”It must be a pretty picture,” he said to her. “You dropping to your knees.”
4. In a 2005 radio interview, Trump said he didn’t change diapers because it’s the wife’s job. In fact, he said he wouldn’t marry a woman who expected this of him. “There’s a lot of women out there that demand that the husband act like the wife and you know there’s a lot of husbands that listen to that,” Trump said. “So you know, they go for it.”
5. Trump believes that if a woman is harassed, she — not the harasser— should leave the workplace. In the wake of multiple sexual harassment allegations against former Fox head Roger Ailes — whom Trump called a “very, very good person” — Trump opined on what his daughter Ivanka should do if sexually harassed. “I would like to think she would find another career or find another company if that was the case,” he said to USA Today columnist Kirsten Powers. Just a few weeks later, Ailes, since ousted from Fox, is advising the Trump campaign ahead of the presidential debates.
6. When former Breitbart reporter Michelle Fields alleged that former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski assaulted her at a Trump event, Trump’s campaign assassinated Fields’s character, implying that Fields has exhibited “a larger pattern of exaggerating incidents.” Trump himself called Fields “terrible” in an interview with Fox & Friends’s Geraldo Rivera and even suggested that she assaulted him. “Maybe I should file a report, she was grabbing me,” he said.
7. Trump launched a Twitter attack against Morning Joe’s Mika Brzezinski for what he believes was unfair coverage by her and co-host Joe Scarborough. Trump called Brzezinski “neurotic” (an insult he apparently only uses for women)
8. Of a pregnant Kim Kardashian, he said, “she has gotten a little bit large.” Pardon me Mr. Trump but, pregnant women tend to get large!
9. After talking to a girl who is going up an escalator, Trump says,”I am going to be dating her in ten years. Can you believe it?”
10. Trump body-shamed Miss Universe Alicia Machado, whom he has called “Miss Piggy,” “Miss Housekeeping,” and an “eating machine.”
11. “It’s certainly not groundbreaking news that the early victories by the women on ‘The Apprentice’ were, to a very large extent, dependent on their sex appeal.”
12. “All of the women on ‘The Apprentice’ flirted with me — consciously or unconsciously. That’s to be expected.”
What Trump Has Said About His Own Daughter:
13. “She does have a very nice figure. I’ve said that if Ivanka weren’t my daughter, perhaps I would be dating her.”
14. Trump replied in the affirmative when host Howard Stern asks him if he can call Ivanka “a piece of ass”.
Trump: “My daughter is beautiful, Ivanka.”
Stern: “By the way, your daughter…”
Trump: “ – she’s beautiful”
Stern: “Can I say this? A piece of ass.”
Trump: “Yeah.”
15. ‘Yeah, she’s really something, and what a beauty, that one. If I weren’t happily married and, ya know, her father . . .’”
How do we excuse this type of behavior? How do we excuse the things he’s said? How do we excuse that he’s routinely sexually harassed and assaulted women who’ve worked under him or just had the bad luck to be in the same vicinity? Or that he’s made more sexist remarks about women’s bodies than we can even count?
Is this the president we want for ourselves and our daughters? Can we have a misogynist living in the Whitehouse?
Whether you’re an Evangelical Christian or an atheist, don’t you have an obligation to understand that no political agenda is more important than voting a narcissistic misogynist as the leader of the free world?
As single moms all we have to protect our rights as women and mothers is ourselves. As single moms, it is our jobs to teach our daughters their value and worth as girls and women. As single moms, it is our responsibility to raise boys who respect girls and women. How will that be possible with Donald Trump, a man who holds nothing back when it comes to his disrespect of women, residing in the Whitehouse?
When a man crosses the line, it’s our responsibility to show him we have boundaries. We have the opportunity to do that on November 8th with our vote. We also have the opportunity to show our daughters and sons they are being raised by single mothers who know their value as a woman and will do everything in their power to put a stop to any man who doesn’t model respectful behavior to our children.
We single mothers teach our children to be kind, considerate, non-judgmental and humble. If Trump is elected President, he will be a role model to our children, one who will undo all we’ve worked hard to teach them. It’s important we mothers not allow Trump to ever attain the position of influencing our children in any way-not only for us as single moms and women, but for the sake of our children and their future.
youre an idiot says
Honey, i am no Trump supporter…. but if Trump becoming president will undo any good teaching you’ve ever given your children, you’re clearly a crappy parent. Perhaps you should be more concerned with the current disaster in the White House more than doubling our national debt that your children will inherit and have to somehow deal with. Or maybe be concerned that Trumps opponent is a liar and murderer. What kind of role model will that be for your children, since the President has so much influence over your household? This article is a joke! Please stop breeding.
