The very public yet very fake apology attempts of Robin Thicke made him look like a master manipulator.
I may have this wrong and my apologies Mr. Thicke if I am taking things the wrong way but your recent song dedicated to your estranged wife, Paula Patton seemed a little off key to me.
Robin Thicke has taken to the stage trying to get the attention of his estranged wife. While some may be impressed by his efforts, I find myself fighting disgust. As the divorced woman of a man who was all about appearances, I find Mr. Thicke’s attempts at reconciliation very telling.
Their relationship problems are not the business of the world. While being in the public eye is part of being famous. You don’t have to act out in the public eye. Marriage requires respect and trust. Playing out your drama for the public eye does not deserve respect nor does it instill trust. The public didn’t influence your decision to fall in love with one another. What if Paula Patton isn’t ready to reconcile? What if she needs time on her own to work through things? By making these very public and pathetic attempts at apologies he is putting her in a negative light if she isn’t ready to forgive him. If he loves her, he will honor her and keep his attempts private.
Showboating, making public displays of apology, that is all it is. I would be upset if I were Paula Patton. He is digging a deeper hole for himself. Public apologies make him look like the good guy and make Paula look like the bad guy if she doesn’t respond the way the public wants her to respond.
In all honesty, Robin Thicke’s moves make me ill. It seems to be a strong arming tactic, used by chief manipulators. Their children will be exposed to his tactics and it will make Paula look bad to not only the public but more importantly to their children. I can hear it now…but momma, daddy apologized, I read it on the internet. Everyone is talking about it.
My ex is a master manipulator, I spent years battling the difference between the public image he showed everyone and then the man he is at home. Robin’s apology has manipulation written all over it.
Perhaps a better, wiser method would be to go to counseling. Even if Paula refuses to attend with you, I’m sure you could benefit. Prove your love to her by changing yourself. Take the steps necessary to protect your children and your estranged wife from the media fall out. Be a man, keep your private life as private as possible.
Make the small, important changes. Put yourself in her shoes, spend a day looking at things from her perspective. Try looking at this from a childs viewpoint. Stop manipulating. Make Paula number one in your life. Right now your actions prove you are still a higher priority to yourself than your wife is. Robin Thicke is numero uno….Paula Patton and your children are somewhere much lower on your priority list.
Mr. Robin Thicke, your love should not be a publicity stunt. Singing your apologies on a national stage? Your children, your wife should be your highest priority. What a mean and cruel thing to do. Robin Charles Thicke you should be ashamed of yourself.
Miss Paula Patton, stand your ground. You are a strong woman. Please don’t sway to public influence, don’t play his games. You know what is missing in your marriage and you know your man well enough to know when he is being genuine. Set an example for all women who are in relationships with manipulators and show you cannot be manipulated.
