“May the odds be ever in your favor.”
-Effie Trinket, The Hunger Games
I don’t know how blog worthy this post will be tonight. It is neither long or filled with much insight. Going to keep it simple.
Guess what day is it today? Yes. It is Thursday. My favorite day of the week, as it is Farmer’s Market Day, where I religiously buy my favorite sammich ever created on God’s green Earth. Seriously, if you ever find yourself in Hawaii, do yourself a favor and go to a Farmer’s Market and find The Pig and The Lady location.
Get In My Belly
O.M.G. Their Pho French Dip will make you want to slap yo mama..it is that good!!! I NEVER miss a Thursday. I swear the angels start singing, when you taste this delectable Vietnemese fusion creation. I love it so much, I would marry this sammich and you know how I feel about marriage. So, yah, it is AMAZEBALLS.
What made this day even better, is that today was the start of the CrossFit Open 2014 Games. Never in my wildest dreams, would I have pictured myself, dying to see when the first WOD (Work Out of the Day). I actually super duper excited to participate in the CrossFit Open now.
Pigs are flying and hell is freezing over my friends! Even my ex-husband is absolutely amazed I am so into CrossFit. Life is funny like that. Alway full of wonderful.
Secretly, I am happy inside, because the greatest revenge, is becoming awesome!
So, this Saturday morning, I will be expected to do 30 Double Unders and #55 Snatches AMRAP in 10 Minutes. Wow. That sounds awesome.
Wait. Then I realized. I cannot do more than 1 Double Under and I have only snatched #50 once. Ruh. Roh. Turns out. Many people feel the same way I do. Thank God for social media and other obsessive CrossFitters like me.
Bring It On 14.1
Let’s Do This
All my personal training, hard work and commitment, over the past two months, will be tested over the next five weeks.
Although, I ain’t a CrossFit superstar, I feel awesome about my growth and progress. At the end of the day, I am so grateful my coach took a chance on me. We started this project together, to inspire other women, to take control of their lives, challenge themselves and prove that CrossFit can change your life in a powereful way.
I am forever grateful and blessed, to have been trained by my wonderful Coach Gilbert Arizaga, at CrossFit Oahu’s Kailua box. What seemed like a crazy idea in December, now makes perfect sense to me now.
Whether he realizes it or not, he changed my life in the most profound way. Not only does it bring tears to my eyes, but I now understand the beauty found in strength. I am thankful God brought Gilbert into my life.
Seriously, I walked into my box with ZERO athletic ability and having no knowledge of weight lifting. Even, if I am always having to scale the WOD, finishing last or not lifting the lower weights, I am still damn proud of myself.
Get Some Goals
Nothing compares to the loud cheers, positive encouragement and community that I have experienced at CrossFit in Kailua. I am no longer scared out of my mind to do the CrossFit Open WODS, because I know I have the support of my CrossFit family.
So what if I cannot do a double under or cannot lift a billion reps. It doesn’t matter. I am never going to be Rich Froning or Jackie Perez. All I have to be is the best Cicily that I can be.
Whatever you do in your life. Strive to be the best you. Have fun with the process. Remain positive. Stay committed.
You will amaze yourself of what you can accomplish, just by following your dreams.
Have a wonderful night. This little lady needs to get her sleep! Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.
What scares you in life?
I do you overcome your fears?
Love,
Sweet Cicily
