The season changing period is the perfect time for expressing your fashion statements. Not to mention that bold fashion choices make us feel satisfied, more confident, and ready for our life changes. And even though we are often super busy with our “small” problems, we have to find the way to create our best personal image. This is why I have created the list of ultimate upcoming spring trends for all of my brave gals out there. Enjoy.
Upcoming Spring Trends: Flower Power
Designers like Balenciaga and Dries Van Noten became obsessed with head-to-toe floral outfits (shoes included). If you watched The Devil Wears Prada you would probably now recite: “Floral? For spring? Groundbreaking.” But it really is actually. From sassy day dresses over pants all the way to shoes, flowers are everywhere. Roses, carnations, daisies – everything. This pattern is probably embraced because everyone got sick of coldness, pale colors and monochrome combinations. After all, we missed flowers so much, right? Why wouldn’t we put them on our clothes?
Stripe it
In the sea of classic and minimalistic trends, these bold and bright spring’s stripes are a true refreshment. You can find them in all color palettes: from a rainbow combo all the way to primary colors which are toned down with black or white. They are mostly present on dresses, which is perfect for all of us working women. Pair this one with classic black heels and watch every person on the street turn their head towards you.
Super bright colors
I don’t know have you noticed how many runway models wore sunglasses at S/S 17 fashion shows. And no, that wasn’t because of the lighting, no. It was because they probably couldn’t stand the brightness of their outfits. As far as I can see, colors like fire red, Kermit green, royal blue, violet and yellow are the new black this year. So what do you think? Is it time to get yourself a carnation shirt to go with your pencil skirt for work? Meow.
Mixing and matching
Gucci, Chanel, and Dolce showed us that we can get eccentric even during daytime. The concept of mixing and matching is finally here. Don’t be afraid, it is not hard at all. Combine your ripped cropped boyfriend jeans with floral ballet pumps, bejeweled accessories, a printed tee and brightly-colored jacket, and voila – you are ready for a night out, as well as happy hour at the office.
Ruffle ruffle
In terms of popularity, as well as proportion, ruffles were HUGE on New York Fashion Week. Ones on asymmetrical dresses, voluminous skirts, and one shoulder tops definitely got the best reviews since they balance femininity and sleekness. They are also super easy for mixing and matching with countless styles.
Robes
You don’t feel like getting dressed for work today? Don’t worry, honey. Lacoste, Jonathan Simkhai and Band of Outsiders got you on this one. Just slip into your fancy outwear-like robe and you are ready to conquer the streets of your city.
XXXXL Bags
Just take a look at Sonia Rykiel, Balenciaga and Celine fashion shows. They really supersized these babies to the absolute maximum. And even though you might think that it seems a little bit unnecessary, just wait till you see all the things they can hold. You will have no trouble with “bring your kid to work” days anymore, because you will literally be able to BRING them (wink).
Flatforms
For all my heel-hating but height-loving ladies out there: Platform sneakers or platforms are among us once again. They decided to wake up from the dead and drag other 80s spirits with them as well. Gucci, Balmain, and Dolce really embraced these, and now you can find them in all possible colors and patterns. But, as far as I can see, the most popular ones are definitely silver or black ones with white stars. When it comes to combining, go all the way. Pair them up with your eighties-like pieces such as one-shoulder tops (which are, by the way, also popular right now), black skinny jeans and shoulder-padded blazers (in bright colors of course).
Navel-grazing necklaces
The year 2016 was all about chokers, so 2017 is going to be all about the longer – the better. Chloe, Prada, and Givenchy showed us how stylish and classy long pendants can look. These go great with your work attire, like sweaters, shirts, blazers, because they add a note of glamor as well as effortless chic.
That would be it. What do you think about these trends? Are you going to try them out? Let me know in the comments.
