What happened to your marriage? I am frequently surprised at the behavior of people and how they appear to have no filter, no shame, and no tact when hearing the news of my divorce. Whatever happened to social graces and respect for privacy? I expect better social behavior from my children much less from adults who should know better than to be so insensitive to people in crisis. Divorce isn’t fun for anybody and it is not outside the realm of possibility that I will break down in tears in the middle of Target when quizzed about the breakdown of my marriage. When someone asks me what happened to us I always think, “God, where do I start?” Immediately I craft in my head an inoffensive answer that I nearly always mumble, like, “We wanted different things.” Friends contributed to this list so next time I’m ready!
